The Computer Society

The Computer Society of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics is the main association focused on developing an interest among students toward all things computers and technology. The association engages the students toward helping them understand new developments in technology and also organizes events that develop fresh interest in these fields and encourages students to learn about these events in an interactive, fun and engaging manner. The society is composed of a highly enthusiastic team that loves the many aspects of technology. While organizing events, the society takes special care to make these events accessible to all especially since we are in a commerce oriented college.

Previously, we have conducted events ranging from workshops in advanced excel to a Money-Heist themed hacking event. The association is committed to making the process as fun as possible and the results are seen the glowing reviews received from our participants after our various events.

One such event was ‘Le Casa de Tech’ which was a Money Heist type event with a tech theme. The event received a positive response from the participants where they had to participate in race to find various clues along and enter the codes in the clues in a computer program to get hints to further clues which led to the main prize.

We have also conducted an Advanced Excel workshop that focused on developing the skills of our participating students and improving their productivity. The event was conducted with officials from NIIT who imparted knowledge to the students and participants were also given certificates for attending the same.

We also have various initiative on our Instagram page that aims to impart knowledge on various topics on technology related fields to people in an accessible manner. We have covered hot topics like 5G, edge computing, UPI, Starlink etc. as well as more esoteric ones such as Navic, quantum computing, Robo Cosmos, Neurobiotics etc. One of our previous initiatives has also covered the work of various founders who have started major startups in the tech space such as those of PayTM, CoinDCX, Cred etc. Our initiatives have attempted to make complex tech terminology (or jargon) easily understandable to the layman such as Deep web, , TOR, metaverse, blockchain etc.

Our past sponsors have included Blur, Bounce, Smash and DU Beat. The association also has a fest under it named Techfest that conducts an expo to allow new students from various colleges to showcase their new inventions alongside inviting interesting startup ideas in the tech space. We have conducted various seminars with eminent individuals who have a deep understanding of technology ecosystems and various computing areas.

The association is open to having individuals even with minimum previous tech experience to participate in its activities. All we search for is a curiosity and interest in technology and a desire to learn more.

Advance Excel Workshop

All thanks to our very own NM College’s Computer Society for giving such an opportunity of keeping An Advance Excel Workshop . The workshop was conducted by NIIT Officials on the 31st Jan and 1st Feb from 9am to 1am in the Seminar Hall of Bhagubhai Mafatlal Polytechnic College.

There were tons of participants who enrolled for the workshop. Due to Limited Seats we had to shut our registration desk. The Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Parag Ajagaonkar. NIIT Officials began the workshop by introducing NIIT and its role and later by introducing Excel and how Advance Excel is different from the usual. Later Mr. Rishikesh Sir gave a briefing on the basics of Excel and began with the features of Advance Excel. The Day1 workshop had boosted the participants enthusiasm. On the Second Day , our fellow participants learnt a step forward than before and also brought about their doubts regarding the topic and interacted with the Officials. All the participans were given a certificate for their participation. The workshop end by our committee Chairperson giving a token of gratitude to our guests for taking out their person time.

Meanwhile the members of the committee enjoyed tasty sandwiches by Mother’s Delite Café on the 1st Day and Chinese Cuisine by Star of Chinaour Sponsors of the event as a reward for their hard work.

We look forward to more opportunities like this where we can help to learn and explore more with such an energizing response from you’ll!!
