The Computer Society

The Computer Society of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics is the main association focused on developing an interest among students toward all things computers and technology. The association engages the students toward helping them understand new developments in technology and also organizes events that develop fresh interest in these fields and encourages students to learn about these events in an interactive, fun and engaging manner. The society is composed of a highly enthusiastic team that loves the many aspects of technology. While organizing events, the society takes special care to make these events accessible to all especially since we are in a commerce oriented college.

Previously, we have conducted events ranging from workshops in advanced excel to a Money-Heist themed hacking event. The association is committed to making the process as fun as possible and the results are seen the glowing reviews received from our participants after our various events.

One such event was ‘Le Casa de Tech’ which was a Money Heist type event with a tech theme. The event received a positive response from the participants where they had to participate in race to find various clues along and enter the codes in the clues in a computer program to get hints to further clues which led to the main prize.

We have also conducted an Advanced Excel workshop that focused on developing the skills of our participating students and improving their productivity. The event was conducted with officials from NIIT who imparted knowledge to the students and participants were also given certificates for attending the same.

We also have various initiative on our Instagram page that aims to impart knowledge on various topics on technology related fields to people in an accessible manner. We have covered hot topics like 5G, edge computing, UPI, Starlink etc. as well as more esoteric ones such as Navic, quantum computing, Robo Cosmos, Neurobiotics etc. One of our previous initiatives has also covered the work of various founders who have started major startups in the tech space such as those of PayTM, CoinDCX, Cred etc. Our initiatives have attempted to make complex tech terminology (or jargon) easily understandable to the layman such as Deep web, , TOR, metaverse, blockchain etc.

Our past sponsors have included Blur, Bounce, Smash and DU Beat. The association also has a fest under it named Techfest that conducts an expo to allow new students from various colleges to showcase their new inventions alongside inviting interesting startup ideas in the tech space. We have conducted various seminars with eminent individuals who have a deep understanding of technology ecosystems and various computing areas.

The association is open to having individuals even with minimum previous tech experience to participate in its activities. All we search for is a curiosity and interest in technology and a desire to learn more.
