With the growing use of Computers and Information Technology in our day to day life, it is necessary that we have the trained man power to manufacture, maintain and use the Computers as well aswrite the software required for the effective and efficient use of the computers and IT.
I.T. is used from Simple Office Automation to Decision Support, Re-Engineering and Organization Transformation.
A new genre of manpower / managers is required to harness the awesome capabilities of Information Technology and to tap the potential of this tool to its maximum.
This course, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, is designed and introduced by University of Mumbai to bridge this gap and produce employable graduate in Information technology which will enable the industry to grow and he graduates to become successful in the field of Information Technology.

Eligibility Criteria for Admissions : Basis of merit – Marks in Mathematics of 12th Standard / Equivalent
After completing B.Sc.I.T you can seek jobs through college by campus recruitment or by seeking for a job by yourself. As graduate in the field of IT which happens to be of a great spectrum, you can get a job in various IT organisations as a System Analyst, Database Administrator, Web Programmer, Application Programmer, Web Designer, etc. or even in a BPO/KPO sector
Here 3 different routes are available like Post Graduation, Management and Studies abroad.
I. Post Graduation (M.Sc.I.T / M.Sc.CS or MCA)
In Post graduation, a B.Sc.I.T graduate can do a M.Sc in the same field or a MCA. The MCA is a 3 year course while the MSc is a 2 year course.
II. Master of Business Administration – MBA
Now, One can do a MBA even after Post graduate degree but doing it right after your Bachelor’s will give you a great edge and catapult you to a high paying job of a manager much Faster. To do MBA in India the student have to appear for the exams like CAT, MH-CET, CMAT, XAT, SNAP, NMAT, etc.
III. Studies abroad for MS or MBA
If studying abroad is an option for you then preferable options are either UK or USA as they are the best in the IT field and offer the highest salaries too! US needs 16 years education while UK allows 15 years. As a BSc IT graduate has completed 15 years of education , his only option is UK where the MS that is Master of Science in IT which is equivalent to Post graduate degree in engineering is only of a year. But, If you are keen on doing your MS IT in USA then you will have to do a small 1 year diploma in any field so as to complete the 16 years of education and then apply for the colleges. So, take GRE (MS) or GMAT (MBA) Exam and then TOEFL/ IELTS/etc. Exam, score good marks and go abroad.
