PRINCIPALS' MESSAGE

PROF. SUNIL MANTRI

colonOne of the dreams is to see NM College stand tall and at the top not lonely but with other institutions as I believe in the theory that to grow is not to make others feel small but to ensure that others also grow with us. This ensures harmonious growth of the institution and all those associated with the institute”.

By the time this magazine reaches you, our N M College should have completed 49 years of existence. The academic year 2014-2015 marks the 50th year of our college which was established in the year 1964 by Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal.

Let me take the opportunity to applaud the efforts of the students, their parents and their trainers and supporting staff for all their hard work, sincere and dedicated efforts in keeping the NM flag flying high in the academic as well as co-curricular activities.

The results of our flagship B.COM program i.e.  T.Y.B.Com. Class at the March 2013 examinations was 99.52% with 818 students securing at least a first class of which 719 students secured distinction. We have got the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th Rank at the University for the T.Y.B.Com. Examination.

The results of TYBMS Class (Semester V and VI taken together) is 98.95% as against University result of 66.14%. Out of 95 students who appeared for the examination 78 students secured distinction, 15 secured a first class, 01 got a pass class and 01 failed. We also secured the 5th, 6th and 9th Rank at the University for TYBMS Examinations.

The result of TYBAF Class (Semester V and VI taken together) is 100% as against the University result of 92.41%. out of 57 students who appeared for the examination 52 students secured a distinction and 05 students got a first class.

The result of HSC (regular) Examinations conducted in February 2013 was 99.63%. the result of HSC(Vocational) Examination was 100%.

As we all know N M College is also known as C A Factory and at the Examinations conducted by the ICAI in May 2013 our students Kruti Shah secured the All India First Rank at the CA Final Examination and Sakshi Gupta secured the All India First Rank in the IPCC Examination. This is one of the few instances where the toppers at IPCC and CA Final are from the same college.

At SVKM and NM we believe that growth and change for better are continuous and ongoing process.  As part of academic growth we have added two more Post graduate Programs in Commerce. We now offer to the students a post-graduate program i.e. M. Com. Program with specialization in Advance Accountancy, Banking and Finance and Management.

Next academic year 2014-2015 is the 50h year of our institute and I sincerely feel that we all, the Staff, the Students (past and present) and their Parents must get-together and celebrate the Golden Jubilee Year in the manner befitting the status and glory that this institute of ours has reached.

With the help of the Staff , students and the Alumni we have started with the preparation of the golden Jubilee Year 2014-2015. We have planned a series of academic, social, cultural and co-curricular activities for the staff, the students and the alumni of the college. I am eagerly looking forward to meet the illustrious alumnus of the college, the past Principals and the faculty members and relive the glory and walk on the path of success that I have inherited. The sincere, dedicated and earnest efforts taken by them has made what N M is today. No wonder NMites are referred to as DyNMites.

I have a dream wherein NM College and the product of NM College are rated the best in the Country in term of their social responsibility, humility, academic brilliance and above all their Indian-ness in this global and competitive world.  This can happen if and only if the alumni NMites who are spread across the world working in various sectors of economy be it finance, marketing, HR, Information Technology, Entertainment Industry, Sports etc. come back to the college and spend some of their valuable time with the current set of students and share their experiences, expertise and knowledge which in turn will benefit the students and add value to their academics.

I once again appeal to the alumni members to get connected with your alma mater and also request our current students to assist us in the process of getting connected with our alumni members.

I would like to express my sincere and heartfelt gratitude to all the students, their parents, the teaching and the supporting staff of the college for all their efforts and for the support extended to me during the academic year 2013-2014 and last but not the least to Shri Amrishbhai Patel, President of SVKM, Shri Shalin Divatia, Joint Secretary of SVKM and In-charge of N M College and all at the SVKM for providing with all the support and guidance in the smooth and effective running of the college.colon

Do you feel that the revised pattern of assessment i.e. 75 (External) : 25 (internal) marks is a better option to 60:40 scheme?
